Transforming Lives in Myanmar
February 16-27, 2012
Operation Open Heart is returning to Myanmar (Burma) for the 10th time. The team of 37 volunteers have all donated their time and expertise to help the Burmese. Working in two Hospitals, the team will assist and train the local Burmese medical professionals improving their skills. In addition, the team will complete approximately 25 operations that will totally transform the lives of the patient and their family. These medical professionals spend every day saving lives, and are now giving up their spare time to travel and do the same for free!
Since the beginning of Operation Open Heart in 1986, over 90 similar adventures have taken place all over the world and more than 2800 patients have received surgery. Without Operation Open Heart many of these patients would not have survived, and at best most would not be able to lead active and productive lives that they are now leading.
With no government funding currently available for the Myanmar visit, we rely on the support of civic minded individuals and companies to support support the work.
